Founder and chief instructor of the Tenkara Karate School, Shihan Patrick Hussey
instructs Ritz Camera manager Adena Korusek proper striking techniques on Tenkara
Black Belt, Barney Villa.
On Wednesday, March 9, 2005, Tenkara Karate of Saratoga held a free two-hour self-defense
Seminar for all the managers of Ritz Camera from Massachusetts, Vermont and North Eastern
New York. Shihan Patrick Hussey taught the employees practical self-defense techniques,
which included escaping from myriad holds, ground work, verbal response, along with
awareness techniques, that are both useful and practical for business people with
no martial arts skills or training. The key to a successful escape from an attacker
is to keep the techniques simple and focused, Shihan Hussey stated. All of the Ritz
Camera employees found their experience informative, practical and highly useful.
Tenkara currently is offering free two-hour self-defense seminars to area businesses
and corporations either at their own facilities or at the Tenkara Karate School,
located at 27 Jumel Place Saratoga Springs.
